Wanting something you can't have
I think the root of sadness, and sometimes anger is the state of inability to have what you want.
Sometimes we as human want something be it a thing or the way things done. We think that something is achievable in a way but it just doesn't happen as how we want it.
It makes our heart's desire unfulfilled.
and the way we feel it... we begin to lament about it.
Lamentation it is. Like the book of Bible.
We lament and maybe we feel despair.
And I think deep inside what makes us lament is not actually what we can't get, as it already touches our ego.
What we lament inside is the way that our sin be it greed or anything else has perpetrated our heart and makes us sad. It makes us sad.
In the book of Lamentation, people lament about their sins and how they has destroyed their houses and everything else. They have destroyed the Jerusalem.
So is the Jerusalem of our heart. Al Quds, the habitation of Allah and all that He likes in our heart.
Allah doesn't like it when the people have two hearts and do idolatry. The places of their egos in the form of idols such as Baal are erected. And it makes Allah doesn't want to make Jerusalem His habitation as He is holy. So, all the Jerusalem must be holy.
Our Jerusalem in our heart cannot be kept unholy as well while hoping that His holy presence will keep dwelling inside all the time.
When we uncleanse our heart, so will Allah's holy presence be lifted from it.
Ablution is what is mentioned in the Psalms
We do ablution when we are going to perform Salat.
When we do ablution, we purify both our physical and spiritual self.
We cleanse ourselves so that we can pray before Allah. As prophet Moses couldn't enter the holy area where the bush burnt because the place was holy.
So when we are holy in our hearts and we keep cleansing it everyday, there is a good chance that Allah's presence will keep dwelling there everytime.
So when Allah has His presence in our hearts, it will live and feel joy. The holy joy that emanates from Allah Himself will be kindled in our hearts.
Where there is warmth, the house lives. So do our hearts.
