Entertainment and Faith

Now, Allah has let me understand that entertainment may erode faith. And faithful entertainment is important for us to keep our faith good and stronger.

Reading Biblical stories is better than reading any story. Because, the stories are indeed about people of faith and Allah. Sometimes it's about war, romance, struggle, etc.

Reading saints stories are good also. 

In Islam, there is Sirah Nabawiyah. And there should be the stories of all Prophets and of holy people.

The longer the story, the better it is. Because we want to read is in place of secular stories.

So when you read the stories let's say of Job, you understand from chapter to chapter. From passages, that Prophet Job did have gradual development througout his story. We understand how he got thing to thing and his response to each. We understand how people interacted in the story. What lessons Allah wants us to understand in every chapter and word.

The value of these stories are godly. They aim nothing but advance self towards Allah.

While secular stories contain ungodly lessons and in result they induce us to sins. The faithful stories are not so.

That's why, reading and entertaining yourself with right stories is important.

Some books like the Bible can be entertainment books. While the Holy Quran is a contemplation book, the others can be used to read even solely just to find entertainment. When we read the others too seriously, we can get bored and then we will look for other kinds of entertainment in the secular form. While this move will make us further from Allah. So, we as human do need entertainment. It's natural for us to take our mind somewhere from our work routines. But, having faithful and godly entertainment is important to keep ourselves close to Allah. When we eat food, we choose the healthy ones. It doesn't mean we can't enjoy them at all and not eat anything. We can enjoy but we also choose the healthy ones as our enjoyment.

Several Things That I Learn From Waliyullah

  Several things that I learn from Waliyullah are:   1. They are always be grateful in everything Allah has given to them so the heart is in the state of gratefulness as much as it can. Sometimes it is unconscious, sometimes it is conscious   2. Asking for Allah's forgiveness They are always asking for forgiveness. For they understand that they are not perfect. So asking forgiveness from Allah the only One who is Perfect is just normal and due, it makes sense and natural for us imperfect beings.    3. Cleanse our hearts We are imperfect by nature. And we are even more fallen after the first inobedience of Adam from what Allah wants from us. So, with these and the unclean inputs we may get everytime, we must cleanse our hearts and ourselves from these impurities. Allah is Quddus (All Holy) so we must try to make ourselves clean.
